A single number is one of 37 positions

On a standard single-zero European wheel, any particular number occupies one of the 37 positions. Before each fair spin, that gives a straight-up number a probability of 1/37, about 2.70%.

Red and black each cover 18 of the 37 positions; zero belongs to neither colour. That is why an even-money colour outcome is 18/37, about 48.65%, rather than 50%.

Zero creates the standard house edge

Typical roulette payouts are based on the 36 numbered positions while the wheel also contains zero. On standard European roulette bets, that difference produces a house edge of about 2.70% before any table-specific rules are considered.

A tracking app can display results more clearly, but it does not remove that mathematical structure.

History does not rewrite the wheel

Ten reds in a row do not remove red from the wheel, and a number missing from a long sample does not gain extra positions. Under a simple fair 1/37 model, one number has an expected count of about 1.35 in 50 spins, 6.76 in 250 and 27.03 in 1,000, but real samples can sit above or below those averages.
